MARK LAWLER, MD
A fellowship-trained Board Certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine, Dr. Lawler has become a recognized specialist and master instructor of hip arthroscopies with labral tears and femoral acetabular impingement syndrome. With in-depth knowledge and surgical skill in hip arthroscopy, Dr. Lawler travels the country giving lectures and training other surgeons in arthroscopic procedures.
After earning his undergraduate degree in biology from UC San Diego, Dr. Lawler went on to complete a medical degree at the Chicago Medical School. He completed a year-long internship in general surgery at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital, before training for four years in his orthopedic residency program with an emphasis on sports medicine. There, he gained experience in the full scope of orthopedic treatment, from the treatment of routine fractures to the diagnosis of complex injuries to the knees, shoulders, hips, and much more.
Dr. Lawler returned to California to complete a fellowship in general orthopedic training and sports medicine at the Palo Alto Medical Clinic. Following his training, he and his wife returned to her home of Marin County.
The founder of Marin Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, Novato, Dr. Lawler specializes in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle, and ACL/PCL reconstruction. He has worked closely with athletes throughout the Bay Area, including the Oakland Raiders, the San Jose Sharks, USA Rugby, the San Jose Sabercats, and the San Jose Clash as well as numerous local college and high school teams.
As a specialist in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Lawler has witnessed the frustration patients feel when faced with surgery as there are currently a limited number of non-surgical options for those with tendonitis or joint pain. With Future Medical Group, Dr. Lawler can now offer a non-surgical option or an enhancement to an already-planned surgery.
